Disaster Recovery Strategy For Microsoft Environment
12/8/2008
In business, a computer disaster equals an event that halts the normal operation
of day-to-day business activities. A disastrous event can involve system
malfunction, operational errors, virus attacks, acts of nature, accidents, or
sabotage. The result of such a disaster is that business stops--orders cease to
be placed, accounting activities freeze, data is unavailable, electronic
communications halt, and the company has no access to decision-critical
information. All of these events cost companies revenue and may result in
unrecoverable damage. By Dr. Vas Srinivasan, VP of Marketing, Sonasoft

Practical Considerations In Cloud Computing
12/5/2008
There is a great deal of confusion surrounding cloud computing these days, in part because the technology is based on the same fundamental components (systems, networks, and storage) as in-house, hosted, and grid computing. However, the concept of cloud computing is easy to understand when you first look at it from a business perspective. By JD Wilson, CEO and Founder, WarLock Software

Seeing Is Trusting — Trust In Optical Storage
11/26/2008
Optical discs are a major source of entertainment content and also a popular way to share, transport and back up data files. Security of optical discs has been problematic with inconsistent approaches to data encryption. News reports show the vulnerability of unprotected content on optical discs being compromised when discs with sensitive data are lost or stolen. By Tom Coughlin, President, Coughlin Associates

Introduction To Unified NAS & IPSAN In Comparison With FCSAN
11/17/2008
Approach towards networked storage started in the 1980s with the introduction of Network Attached Storage devices and continued later in the 1990s when Fibre Channel (FC) emerged as an alternative method of connecting storage. FC could be used in either a loop technology, with up to 126 devices attached to a loop, or in a fabric with switches connecting multiple file servers and storage devices.
