Xiotech Announces New Contracts For Emprise Systems Using ISE Technology

Xiotech Corporation recently announced that a number of new organizations have purchased either the Emprise 7000 or Emprise 5000 system. New Emprise customers include Altru Health System; AutoVIN; Beam4D Enterprises, LLC; County of Paulding, Board of Commissioners; Highlands County Clerk of Courts; ICMA Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC); Integrated DNA Technologies; Milliman Care Guidelines; Minnetonka Public Schools; Orlando Utilities Commission; ProHealth Care; U.S. Navy's Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC); and the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business.

Many of the customers selected the Emprise systems because the product line is built on patented Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) technology, which minimizes drive-related service events through a combination of preventive and self-healing capabilities. Xiotech backs the technology with a five-year hardware warranty.

This benefit was a critical factor for Beam4D, since its flagship product is a software-as-a-service (SAAS) accounts receivable management solution which must remain online and available for customer access. Beam4D's Chief Software Architect Jerry Rubin said, "Our clients' business demands a storage system with unprecedented reliability. The unique self-healing ISE architecture of the Emprise 7000 system, along with our high-availability virtual machine cluster, gives them exactly what they need."

New customers also cited the industry-leading performance of the Emprise systems, since the ISE technology tightly integrates drive, enclosure and controller software and distributes much of the processing and cache into the ISE enclosure.

Altru Health System's Technical Support Manager Matt Schumacher noted, "We chose the Emprise 7000 system because it addresses the primary disk failure and rebuild issues we've had with our previous storage area network (SAN) technology without sacrificing performance. While we don't typically jump on new technology like this, we've been a Xiotech customer for 10 years and always have been impressed by Xiotech's customer service and technology. The ISE technology is tested and proven and will give us industry-leading I/O speed so we can keep up with increasing demands for the storage of clinical data which needs to be instantly available to our caregivers."

ISE technology also gives customers greatly improved scalability by pooling storage into a singular element that is 10 to 20 times the capacity of a typical disk drive, with the internal processing power and cache needed to handle all drive management functions. Additionally, the technology provides a solid foundation for purpose-built storage solutions, so that organizations can configure storage solutions for their unique needs.

The Emprise 7000 system supports up to 64 ISE (1,024 terabytes) and is managed by dual controllers. It includes all of the storage capabilities that are currently available on Xiotech's Magnitude 3D 4000 line, including the Web Services-based ICON Manager user interface with Virtual View for managing storage in virtualized server environments, a distributed cluster architecture, Intelligent Provisioning and a suite of data replication solutions.

Also built on ISE technology, Emprise 5000 is a self-enclosed, virtual storage system that can be attached to servers either directly or via a Fibre Channel switch. Four storage tiers are available, with a maximum capacity of 16 terabytes. Performance scales linearly, so that two systems roughly double the performance of one.

About Xiotech
Xiotech Corporation, an innovator in data storage and protection solutions, delivers the new foundation of storage with unprecedented value, performance, scalability, reliability and ease-of-use. Its Emprise storage family is built on patented Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) technology, which eliminates wasted disk space, delivers industry-leading performance and scales both capacity and performance in a building-block fashion. In addition, self-healing technology unique to ISE significantly decreases service events and allows Xiotech to offer an industry-leading five-year hardware warranty.

Xiotech's ICON Manager is unique in integrating storage management across the array, server and virtual machine layers. This enables single console operations and a global view of storage allocation and usage across all layers. ICON Manager also is the first to simplify integration and customization using industry-standard Web Services technology.

Xiotech is based in Eden Prairie, Minn., and maintains major facilities in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Hyderabad, India.
