STORServer Manager (SSM) is a graphical user interface (GUI) which makes the daily administration of a TSM solution easier, more intuitive, more automated and less time consuming. SSM is a Windows-based application that connects to the TSM server as a TSM administrator and translates the users point-and-click commands to TSM command line instructions for the TSM server. This allows the end-user to perform most of the daily, routine processes and tasks from a GUI, instead of the somewhat cumbersome and usually non-intuitive command line. SSM must run on a Windows machine but can administer TSM solutions on any platform. If the TSM server happens to be Windows-based, both applications can be installed on the same server. If TSM is running on another platform, SSM is installed on a Windows machine and pointed across the network to the TSM server.
