Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced that its Relicore Clarity software, now Veritas Configuration Manager, and Backup Exec software have both earned the prestigious Well-Connected Award from CMP Media LLC's Network Computing magazine. Veritas Configuration Manager is the industry's only data center change and configuration management solution capable of automatically discovering, mapping, and tracking changes to application and server components in real time. Symantec Backup Exec 10d for Windows Servers is the industry leader in disk-based, continuous Windows data protection.

"Change and configuration management, and continuous data protection have become critical tools in companies' efforts to better understand and manage their IT environments, protect their critical data, and make the most out of their existing IT assets," said Kris Hagerman, senior vice president, data center management group, Symantec Corp. "We are honored that after rigorous testing, Network Computing has selected Veritas Configuration Manager and Backup Exec as best-in-class products."

Veritas Configuration Manager enables organizations to ensure the integrity of complex, dynamic application and server configurations. It automates the process of documenting data center server and application configurations, mapping interdependencies and tracking changes to improve control over data center assets and maximize application availability. The combination of Configuration Manager's change and configuration management capabilities with Symantec's existing storage and server management software products allows customers to gain greater visibility over their data center assets and improve their efficiency and effectiveness in managing those assets.

Symantec Backup Exec 10d for Windows Servers is designed to utilize disk storage, delivering more reliable, faster, and more efficient true continuous data protection for Windows servers.
