StoneFly Networks Unveils New High-Performance Storage Concentrator i3000 With Local And Remote Mirroring

StoneFly Networks, Inc., the innovator of iSCSI-based storage provisioning appliances that optimize IP SANs (Internet Protocol Storage Area Networks), today introduced the Storage Concentrator i3000, a high-performance addition to the company's flagship product line. With advanced storage management features, superior throughput, Flexible Port Configuration as well as local and remote mirroring capabilities, the Storage Concentrator i3000 brings a new level of performance and unparalleled price to the IP SAN market.

Available this month with pricing starting at $13,995 for a single-unit configuration and $19,995 for a FailOver cluster-pair configuration, the new Storage Concentrator i3000 lets small-to-medium enterprises and large organizations quickly and easily transform Ethernet networks into cost-effective, highly available IP SANs. The i3000 is standards-compliant and offers high-performance features such as an Intel Xeon 3GHz processor and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports for active load balancing of I/O traffic. In addition, StoneFly Replicator mirroring, included with the i3000, supports storage-independent local or remote, synchronous or asynchronous data replication over unlimited distances using iSCSI on an Ethernet network for increased data availability and disaster recovery planning. Complete local and remote data replication IP SAN solutions are also available from StoneFly, starting at just $19,995 for a 1TB configuration.

"Most businesses today guard against a potential local disaster by storing duplicate data outside of their geographic region," explained Bob Preston, vice president of marketing at StoneFly. "With the Storage Concentrator i3000, businesses not only receive superior performance but also increased protection with remote data replication, which expedites disaster recovery at a remote location and strengthens business continuity."

According to Ken Walters, senior director of enterprise platforms for PBS (Public Broadcasting Service), the Storage Concentrator i3000 will play a pivotal role in his company's comprehensive disaster recovery plans. "We already use StoneFly's Storage Concentrators in a FailOver configuration to extend our Fibre Channel SAN economically while easily scaling both IP SAN and Fibre Channel SAN technologies," said Walters. "By adding the Storage Concentrator i3000 to our blended SAN, we will increase the availability of critical data without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to attain traditional remote data replication functionality."

With the new Storage Concentrator i3000, StoneFly offers additional flexibility and scalability through Flexible Port Configuration, which provides up to six I/O ports. This innovative feature lets customers mix and match almost any combination of iSCSI, SCSI or Fibre Channel ports to customize their IP SAN to meet unique IT requirements.

StoneFly's Storage Concentrators, installed at more than 70 customer sites nationwide, leverage the proliferation of Gigabit Ethernet and IP in the enterprise to allow simple, intelligent and affordable SANs. Storage Concentrators employ an easy-to-use HTML-based user interface that lets administrators easily manage storage operations.
