Removable Disk Backup: Idealstor Frankenas

Idealstor has combined the best of disk and tape and created the future in disk to disk storage and backup. The Idealstor FrankeNAS uses disk as the backup and offsite storage medium providing for the first time, a disk to disk backup solution that provides an alternative to tape backup. The FrankeNAS is a 4U Rackmount appliance that uses a combination of RAID5 redundancy and the Idealstor ejectable disk technology to provide an all in one disk storage and backup appliance. Data can be replicated to the RAID5 array of disks for nearline storage and then backed up to ejectable ATA disks for offsite storage. Disk to disk backup was invented to eliminate the problems associated with tape based backup, however, tape is still required to take the data from the network to the vault. FrankeNAS eliminates tape and makes backing up to disk a reality.
