SANZ Wins Contract For IP-SAN At Department Of Defense
SANZ (OTCBB: SANZ) a leading storage consultant and integrator announces that it has been awarded a contract for a 28 terabyte IP-SAN at the Defense Intelligence Agency. The prime contractor on the project selected SANZ to provide consultation, integration and ongoing support for the project. The selection was based on SANZ's expertise in the storage arena, and specifically its track record of delivering new technologies to government agencies that offer higher value and performance.
To meet the project requirements, SANZ worked with EqualLogic and its Peer Storage Array 100E systems as the core building block of the SAN because it delivers the robust features of a high-end storage area network (SAN) in an affordable, iSCSI solution. SANZ also worked with QLogic to achieve an early release of the SANblade 4010 iSCSI host bus adapter (HBA) – critical to the success of the solution.
"Robust IP-SAN infrastructures were only a dream a couple of years ago, and now SANZ is deploying multi-terabyte systems in government agencies and commercial infrastructures," said Mike Phelan, SANZ President. "For more than six years SANZ has provided leading-edge storage technology services to the DoD, encompassing hundreds of transactions and millions of dollars of revenue. SANZ is increasingly known in DoD circles for its successful track record in playing crucial roles in key projects."
Based on the iSCSI (Internet SCSI) standard, IP-SAN is a storage architecture that uses standard IP protocol over common Ethernet networks to create a consolidated storage solution. Compared to SANs built using Fibre Channel protocol, IP-SAN offers a number of advantages including lower cost, since iSCSI host bus adapters, switches and storage are less expensive than Fibre Channel devices. The common IP protocol and networks used in IP-SAN are also much more familiar to most IT professionals than Fibre Channel, speeding up development and deployment.
"We are impressed by SANZ's industry knowledge, intelligent solutions design, and rapid implementation," said John Joseph, vice president of marketing at EqualLogic. "Sensitive government environments require highly reliable storage solutions that provide uninterrupted data availability and data protection, and we look forward to delivering our enterprise-quality iSCSI SAN arrays to many more SANZ customers in the future."
