New RAID 6 features increase reliability and protection with full support for AMCC 3Ware SATA II RAID controller family
Wasabi Systems today announced that its Storage Builder® product line, including solutions for IP-SAN and NAS, now includes integrated support for RAID 6, further increasing reliability and protection from dual drive failures within a RAID volume. Wasabi has implemented full support for the AMCC 3Ware® 9650SE SATA II RAID controller family. When combined with the integrated WasabiRAID virtualization capability, Storage Builder is able to deliver RAID 61 and RAID 60, further increasing overall system reliability and performance options.
The availability of RAID 6 for SATA drives helps SME and enterprise businesses achieve extremely high reliability data systems at a reasonable cost. RAID 6 allows for 2 drives to fail in an array without losing data – a significant capability due to the long rebuild times associated with the very large drive capacities available today.
