QStar Technologies Addresses Storage Compliance Issues With New Policy-Based Data Retention And Migration Management Products

Source: QStar Technologies, Inc.

QStar Technologies, today announces two new products to address information lifecycle management needs, MultiStor for local server data management based on archival retention and deletion policies, and Network Migrator for client side migration strategies in heterogeneous networks.

Local server data management based on archival and deletion policies is a necessity in today's regulated business environment. Individual file time associations, extensions and regular expression search strings are policies that can be specified to facilitate data archiving and/or deletion to meet the various imposed regulations and best practices. By utilizing QStar MultiStor, customers can transparently apply a cost effective tiered storage strategy within an already established application environment.

QStar Network Migrator adds client side migration strategies to heterogeneous networks. Network Migrator monitors client desktop workstations, departmental servers and application servers and migrates data back to centralized storage/file servers. Network Migrator manages data archiving and deletion policies at an enterprise level. Local disk can be extended to storage server disk space and ultimately to long-term archive devices. This tiered architecture makes full use of the network's storage resources without impacting the local monitored file space.

These two products allow QStar to address the information lifecycle management needs of our customers whether they are a large enterprise client or a departmental single server application.

QStar's advanced policy based management for data movement, retention and/or deletion uses either one or a combination of File Modification, File Extensions, Regular Expression Searches and/or High Water Mark attributes to define policies. Once archive retention dates have been met, Network Migrator or MultiStor can also be configured to automatically delete files based on individual rules set on a monitored file system basis.

"Corporations are faced with meeting the ever-growing requirements of regulatory bodies and at the same time, reduced spending allocated for IT administration, and a decreased staff for data management," said Riccardo Finotti, President of QStar Technologies. "In basic terms, we help them do more with less."

MultiStor and Network Migrator are currently available. More product information is available at www.qstar.com along with an application for demonstration software downloads. Please contact us for reseller information at 800.568.2578 or email us at info@qstar.com.
