QStar Data Director And Simulated Jukebox Software Integrates With EMC Centera Content Addressed Storage
QStar Technologies Inc. today announced it has completed integration between the QStar Data Director and the QStar Simulated Disk or Tape Jukebox products with EMC® Centera™ content addressed storage (CAS). EMC Centera is a simple, affordable and secure repository for information archiving that has been designed specifically to address the unique storage requirements of unchanging digital assets such as medical imaging, financial, e-mail, legal documentation, and other highly regulated business data.
The QStar data protection software suite of products enables customers to better manage the utilization of storage resources throughout their enterprise by applying data migration policies that administer and control the location of files as they move through their lifecycle, beginning with high-performance, higher-cost storage RAID solutions and then in this case, to Centera content addressed storage, a unique cost effective on-line active archive.
"QStar is very pleased to join the EMC Centera Partner Program and support EMC Centera as part of our enterprise archive strategy," said Riccardo Finotti President of QStar Technologies. "The completed integration affords both QStar and EMC customers a forward thinking data management and protection architecture for content that adds data protection features currently not available in other solutions."
Roy Sanford, Vice President of Content Addressed Storage at EMC, said, "The integration between QStar's Simulated Disk Jukebox agent and QStar Data Director with EMC Centera will bring added value to joint customers. As the world's first CAS solution, the EMC Centera active enterprise archive addresses the unique requirements of unchanging digital assets."
With QStar's Simulated Disk Jukebox agent, QStar Data Director can add the additional protection of mirroring data sent to Centera by concurrently writing files to a storage library. Data protected in this way gains both the on-line access of Centera and the added benefit of low-cost removable media. The data is protected with fail over and hot synchronization features.
By managing archive data on Centera and mirroring that data to a removable media archive device, users gain faster access to compliance data by accessing it from the Centera while providing a mirrored backup copy of the data for disaster prevention. The mirror with Simulated Disk Jukebox or Simulated Tape Jukebox can be done either to multiple Centera devices or to removable rewritable or write-once media types for maximum security and regulatory needs.
