Princeton Softech Expands Focus On Enterprise Data Management
Princeton Softech, the market leader in enterprise data management, today announced the general availability of Optim, Release 6.2, enabling companies to automate data retention policies and ensure access for compliance. Automation enables consistent management of data retention periods to reduce risk and storage costs. Enhanced capabilities for Optim's Open Data Manager (ODM) provide on demand access to archived data enabling timely response to inquiries, audits and discovery requests. Companies can archive and manage historical enterprise application data to improve business efficiencies, enhance application performance and monitor compliance.
"Data retention requirements often dictate how long to retain certain types of information, and governance standards can differ across industries and geographies," said Al Smith, executive vice president of Development at Princeton Softech. "Optim 6.2 allows companies to simplify data retention using consistent and automated processing to manage historical data based on site-specific business policies and retention requirements. Our clients have more control of their application data. They can reduce the costs and risk by retaining data access throughout the information lifecycle and disposing of enterprise data at the appropriate time."
Release 6.2 automates the management of data retention periods. Enhanced reporting capabilities provide user-configurable processes to manage archives that are eligible for deletion or for migration to a lower-cost storage tier.
"The market continues to embrace enterprise data management solutions that allow corporations to proactively align critical information assets with the appropriate technology infrastructure," said Brian Babineau, an Analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. "Archiving data and automating data retention, based on accessibility, security and performance metrics ensures that customers can derive the most business value from their information."
Optim's ODM component makes it easy to access, serve and report on archived data using industry standards, such as ODBC, JDBC and commercial reporting tools. Business users can access current and archived data in a single combined view, or view only archived data statically or dynamically. Release 6.2 also enhances ODM capabilities through the use of a single archive "collection" object that logically references multiple archives as one or more data sources. This capability makes it possible to dynamically select archived data for audits, reporting or other business purposes, based on user-defined "collections."
