Neverfail Extends VMware's OEM Licensing Agreement For VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat

Multi-Year Agreement follows Significant Global Adoption of VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat Demonstrating the Importance of Ensuring Continuous Availability of Virtual Deployments

Recently at VMworld 2010, Neverfail, a global software company specializing in affordable continuous availability and disaster recovery solutions for critical Microsoft Windows applications deployed on physical and virtual servers, announced that VMware has extended its existing OEM licensing agreement that incorporates Neverfail continuous availability technology and application management framework into VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat.

Since the original agreement was inked in January 2009, more than 500 enterprise customers have adopted the solution, which helps to ensure the highest levels of availability for their mission critical virtual infrastructure.

"VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat helps provide the resilient virtual infrastructure customers need to run mission-critical applications in cloud computing environments," said Patrick Lin, vice president, product management, VMware. "VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat with Neverfail technology provides the highest levels of availability for the VMware vCenter Server platform, which is critical to the high availability and disaster recovery required for customers to deliver IT as a service."

VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat uses Neverfail technology to optimize availability and resiliency of VMware vCenter Server including functionality that helps ensure:

  • High availability of VMware vCenter Server and its database against hardware, OS, application and network downtime.
  • Provision of seamless failover and failback of VMware vCenter Server
  • Disaster recovery for VMware vCenter Server in local and remote locations

In July 2010 VMware released VMware vSphere 4.1, as well as VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat v6.3. This latest version of VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat includes the Neverfail Continuous Availability Director technology—Neverfail's centralized management console—to provide a single management view of availability of multiple VMware vCenter Server instances and their associated SQL databases.

"We are thrilled that our relationship with VMware continues to develop," said Nick Harmer, senior vice president of alliances for Neverfail. "We know that in today's competitive environment any user downtime is unacceptable and results in loss of business or reputation. The extension of our licensing agreement with VMware demonstrates the value our technology brings to VMware customers and the confidence VMware themselves has in Neverfail."
