Mellanox Introduces 40Gb/s InfiniBand Products For New HP ProLiant G6 Server Blades

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a leading supplier of end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage, recently announced that its leading 40Gb/s InfiniBand ConnectX adapter and InfiniScale IV-based blade switch have been integrated across the new line of HP ProLiant G6 server blades for the HP BladeSystem c-Class platform. The new HP ProLiant G6 server blades incorporate Intel's recently announced Xeon Processor 5500 Series (formerly codenamed "Nehalem"), fueling the need for InfiniBand's industry-leading CPU utilization and bandwidth capabilities. According to Gartner*, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for blade server shipments from 2008 through 2013 is forecasted to be 20.8% and to reach more than 2.5 million units in 2013, representing the fastest-growing server form factor over the next five years.

Mellanox-based 40Gb/s InfiniBand mezzanine adapter and 40Gb/s switch blade for the HP BladeSystem c-Class are available today through HP.
