JMR Electronics, Inc., a leading value provider of scalable storage systems for video and data intensive applications, will showcase their new line of Mac-compatible 16-bay BlueStor™ PeSAN™ RAID and 8-bay BlueStor 888™ storage solutions at the 2009 Macworld Conference and Expo in San Francisco, January 5th - 9th.

The BlueStor PeSAN RAID line was developed to be the ultimate in high-performance Direct Attached Storage or Networked Attached Storage for data intensive IT applications as well as content creation, VOD, video editing and 2K/4K Digital Intermediate (DI) film applications requiring extremely high sustained throughput and reliability. A single 16-bay 3U RAID array with up to 16TB using SATA HDDs (or 4.8TB using SAS HDDs), delivers over 1,400 MB/s – making it ideal for encoding, multi-stream SD/HD real-time editing, and 2K DI applications. For collaborative or multi-stream SD/HD and 2K/4K DI workflows requiring even higher performance and scalable storage, BlueStor PeSAN powered RAIDs can achieve up to 4,000 MB/s and be expanded to over 4,000 TB using the current JMR PeSAN technology.

As with all other BlueStor 3U rackmount products, the system utilizes hot-swappable, lightweight, vibration-dampening resin disk drive canisters with integrated light pipes, latching handles and EMI shields. These are interchangeable amongst all BlueStor 3U rackmounts. The unit also features N+1 hot-swappable cooling elements with centrifugal blowers mounted in noise and vibration-dampening resin modules and N+1 hot-swappable power supplies which are also interchangeable with other BlueStor products for simplified, low-cost spares programs.

At the show, JMR will also debut their new BlueStor 888 desktop storage solution - a compact, light and quiet 8-bay desktop storage solution for the Mac (or PC) that delivers over 500 MB/s, stores up to 8 TB and occupies a mere 7.5" x 11" footprint. The groundbreaking 8-bay SAS/SATA JBOD or RAID desktop solution, with SFF-8088 mini-SAS host connectivity, is ideal for SOHO/SMB data storage expansion, SD or HD content creation and video editing applications requiring the utmost in speed, capacity and reliability on a budget. The BlueStor 888 can be daisy chained to provide additional storage using a 3 Gb/s SAS expander, and will also be available as an 8-bay server or 8-bay NAS appliance next quarter.

Another JMR product debuting at Booth # 208 will be the EXTN-8, a PCIe Bus Extender with a built-in 16-bay SAS/SATA hot-swap JBOD/RAID housed in a common 3U rackmount chassis. The 5-slot PCIe bus extender's reliability is backed by nearly two years of compatibility testing with many motherboards, operating systems and peripheral devices. The EXTN-8 is a highly functional, reliable Mac-compatible unit, and includes the added benefit of a JBOD/RAID storage subsystem in the same chassis (capable of up to 16TB SATA storage).

The 2009 Macworld Conference and Expo is from Monday, January 5th to Friday, January 9th at the Moscone Center. JMR Electronics will be located in the South Hall, at booth number 208.

About BlueStor™ PeSAN™
JMR's BlueStor ™ PeSAN™ Technology utilizes off-the-shelf PCIe RAID cards from a variety of popular manufacturers, all 100 percent compatibility assured. SAS or SATA disk drives can be used interchangeably in the array allowing for very diverse customization options. Disk drives are installed vertically rather than horizontally to improve SAS signal integrity and to maximize airflow, resulting in the coolest-operating disk drives possible. Only one multilane cable is used in the data path in order to maintain the flexibility of interchangeable RAID controllers.

Implemented into the storage infrastructure, the PCIe standard will dramatically improve performance and workflow efficiencies, as well as lowering the total cost of ownership due to the dramatic decrease in footprint, heat, cooling needs, etc. This coupled with massive price decreases provides a clear alternative to expensive InfiniBand, Fibre Channel and SCSI solutions.
