Jatheon Technologies Archives E-mail For Muscular Dystrophy Association
Delivering e-mail archiving appliances for the mid-market, Jatheon Technologies, Inc. recently announced the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has deployed the company's Plug n Comply e-mail archiving appliance. MDA cited pricing, ease of use, and improved manageability of its Microsoft Exchange e-mail stores as key reasons for selecting the Jatheon solution.
"MDA is a voluntary health agency funded almost entirely by individual private contributors, so it simply must maximize its IT resources," said Kieron Dowling, president and CEO of Jatheon Technologies. "Our Plug n Comply appliances are an ideal fit for MDA and other organizations facing similar resource constraints, because our solutions keep costs low. They are simple to deploy and use, yet offer powerful archiving and storage management features."
Rod Brandon, vice president, Information Technology of MDA, said, "Like most organizations, e-mail has become a core communications tool for MDA, and our e-mail volume has been growing steadily over the years. Thanks to Softchoice, we discovered Jatheon and selected a Plug n Comply e-mail archiving appliance based on price, ease of use, accessibility to support, and the storage capacity of the solution provided."
Managing E-mail for MDA
Prior to implementing the Jatheon Technologies solution, MDA did not archive or journal messages on its Microsoft Exchange Server messaging system. The primary issue became keeping the Exchange stores at a manageable level as e-mail accumulated from such activities as research and medically-oriented communications, coordinating 250,000+ volunteers for MDA's Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, and administration tasks.
Keith Groom, solutions group director, Infrastructure and Client Group Computing, Softchoice, said, "We've been working with MDA for a while, and we knew that e-mail storage management was an issue for them. We recommended Jatheon because of their solution as well as their support. The company has proven itself to be a tremendous partner and team player, both for us and our customers, providing invaluable pre-sales and post-implementation support."
Today at MDA, a Jatheon PnC 3000 E archives e-mail and attachments for users spread across 200+ offices nationwide. The MDA's total e-mail box count is approximately 1,700 mailboxes.
Said MDA's Brandon, "Storage was an important factor in selecting the PnC 3000 E as it has 4 TB uncompressed as part of the package. This solution, along with an e-mail attachment stripping utility, will keep our Exchange stores to a manageable level."
