iSCSI Storage: NetApp CommandCentral Storage By Symantec Now Extends Management Coverage

Network Appliance, Inc., a leading provider of storage and data management solutions, recently announced NetApp CommandCentral Storage by Symantec version 5.0. CommandCentral Storage 5.0 now includes iSCSI support to the list of already supported protocols—Fibre Channel SAN, NAS, and direct-attached storage. CommandCentral Storage 5.0 also introduces the ability to analyze end-to-end storage consumption in heterogeneous physical and virtual environments and adds support for monitoring and reporting of remote and local replication via integration with NetApp SnapMirror.

CommandCentral Storage is a fully integrated family of products that enables IT organizations to deliver services that are measurable, accountable, and integrated with business objectives. CommandCentral Storage software provides increased flexibility and reduced management costs, helping enterprises to manage and meter their storage operations from a single management console in Fibre Channel and IP SAN environments. By deploying CommandCentral Storage, customers can reduce the number of tools, scripts, and consoles required to manage their complex storage environments and in return reduce costs and improve services.

"Most global organizations have complex, difficult to manage heterogeneous server and storage infrastructures with varied architectures such as FC SAN, IP SAN, and direct-attached storage devices," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing at Network Appliance. "By simplifying and streamlining the architecture needed to manage a wide range of protocols, that now includes iSCSI, NetApp customers can use CommandCentral Storage software to help lower storage management costs, maximize their storage utilization, and improve business productivity and efficiency."

"CommandCentral Storage 5.0 combined with NetApp SAN & NAS solutions provides a comprehensive solution that enables organizations to spend less on storage while improving storage operations across physical and virtual environments," said Rob Soderbery, senior vice president of Symantec's Storage Foundation Group. "IT organizations need to have visibility and control over their heterogeneous storage infrastructure to effectively deliver storage services to the business."
