iSCSI: iStor Networks Technology Selected By D-Link To Provide Businesses With Affordable iSCSI System-On-A-Chip Storage
iStor Networks, a leading technology provider for storage networking systems, today announced its GigaStorATX storage controller has been selected by D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers and business, for use in D-Link's newest xStack Storage iSCSI storage area network (SANs) family of products for the small-to-medium business and enterprise (SMB/SME) markets.
GigaStorATX is iStor's flagship product that enables high performance, feature rich, power efficient, and cost effective iSCSI RAID storage solutions. D-Link is including the technology in its new xStack Storage iSCSI SAN Arrays 3000 family of storage area network products, which won this year's Interop Best of Show award and are scheduled to begin shipping this month.
Employing iStor's highly integrated, next-generation iSCSI system-on-a- chip controller, the D-Link xStack Storage product family can handle more than 65,000 input/outputs (I/Os) per second and in excess of eleven terabytes of storage capacity. Both models are easily implemented as near-line storage to supplement or replace primary IP network storage systems, or as a basic backup and data recovery iSCSI appliances.
"We are excited to be working with D-Link as they share our commitment to providing quality, cost effective storage solutions to the masses," said Simon Huang, President and CEO of iStor Networks.
"We are pleased to be integrating iStor technology into our xStack Storage product line, which represents the next-generation of storage technology for the industry," said Steven Joe, president and CEO of D-Link Systems, Inc. "This product entry is ideal for businesses looking for advanced storage solutions that are fast, powerful and affordable."
Huang added: "At the heart of the GigaStorATX is iStor's highly integrated and powerful iSNP8008 iSCSI/TCP/IP offload ASIC; a high performance storage network processor capable of sustaining 10 GbE wire speed iSCSI traffic. The GigaStorATX offers a fully featured, integrated storage-virtualization firmware stack."
The D-Link xStack Storage DSN-3200 ($5,999.99) and DSN-3400 ($14,999.99) are among the industry's first high-performance iSCSI SAN storage appliances that offer enterprise-level features for the small- to medium-sized business (SMB) and enterprise (SME) markets.
Steve Duplessie, president of Enterprise Strategy Group, an industry research group, said "We see iSCSI in thousands of implementations today. This partnership can help to significantly change the economics of storage by making iSCSI even more cost efficient and readily available to the entry level and SMB markets."
