HyperIP Now Qualified For EMC Symmetrix DMX & EMC RecoverPoint CRR
NetEx, the leader in high-speed data transport, recently announced that its HyperIP Data Center Optimization technology has been qualified by the EMC E-Lab for interoperability with the EMC Symmetrix DMX series of enterprise storage systems and EMC RecoverPoint CRR (Continuous Remote Replication).
The Symmetrix qualification is the latest between EMC and NetEx. In this recent round of qualification testing, along with the Symmetrix arrays, EMC E-Lab also qualified HyperIP on storage arrays replicated by RecoverPoint to accelerate data movement across a WAN when using the Continuous Remote Replication feature of RecoverPoint. HyperIP was E-lab qualified on a remote replication test bed running Symmetrix Remote Data Facility/A (SRDF) and SRDF/DM distance protocols on the Symmetrix DMX/DMX-2, DMX-3 and DMX-4 systems. HyperIP was previously business unit and field tested by NetEx with EMC Centera Replicator and EMC Celerra Replicator applications and is in production with these platforms at several customer locations.
The EMC E-Lab conducts the industry's most rigorous interoperability testing, spanning every major platform and operating system. In the process, EMC E-Lab creates a deep pool of knowledge about complete environments as well as about every individual component of the solution.
"The HyperIP qualification with Symmetrix and RecoverPoint by EMC E-Lab is a major milestone for mutual NetEx and EMC customers," said Craig Gust, CEO of NetEx. "With the vast volume of data stored on a Symmetrix system, conventional replication applications alone are sometimes insufficient to meet challenging recovery point and recovery time objectives to restore remote data over an IP-based WAN connection. HyperIP solves this problem by supercharging SRDF replication performance over TCP based WANs and thereby minimizing the risks to data availability in the case of a catastrophic site failure."
HyperIP is NetEx's award-winning business continuity and disaster recovery optimization solution for backup, recovery and data replication applications. It provides unmatched performance for moving TCP data efficiently using patent-pending technology that accelerates and optimizes the industry-leading data replication and file transfer applications by aggregating multiple data replication applications over a shared connection while mitigating the inherent network latency and network disruption for long-distance remote TCP/IP data transmissions. HyperIP data center optimization appliances support long-distance data transfers at up to 800 Mb/s, the highest performance of any optimization appliance on the market, and 25 to more than 100 percent faster than competitive products. Every HyperIP appliance includes the unique Sync on Demand (SOD) and Recovery on Demand (ROD) functionality to maximize the performance of the user initial replication synchronization operation and the data recovery process. Sync on Demand gives new users a temporary software key to perform at the maximum data rate possible based upon the available bandwidth during initial synchronization of replicated data. Recovery on Demand provides for a similar feature to Sync on Demand although the temporary software key provides a performance increase during any requested data recovery scenario. Both the Sync on Demand and Recovery on Demand features are free of charge to EMC customers for 10 days upon request and once complete the HyperIP performance will return to the previous speed purchased based upon the software license.
HyperIP transfer speed is optimized for the full range of data management applications, including backup & remote replication and business continuance/disaster recovery (BC/DR). In addition to its support for EMC products, HyperIP is also qualified on other replication and BC/DR applications from other storage vendors including TrueCopy from Hitachi Data Systems, IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager and Global Mirror, SnapVault and SnapMirror from Network Appliance, DataGuard and DBsync from Oracle and Symantec's NetBackup, Replication Exec and Volume Replicator.
NetEx will be sponsoring the EMC World show 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada from May 19-22nd. They will be located in booth # 926.
