Hifn Thought Leader To Address 3G Security Issues
Hifn, the catalyst behind storage and networking innovation, recently announced that Sid Yenamandra, the company's telecommunications visionary and Senior Director of Applied Services Processors, has been chosen to give a presentation entitled "The Role of Security in 3G Mobile Networks: Threat and Solutions".
With multimedia applications driving the tremendous growth of 3G wireless network deployments, securing these deployments has become a priority for Service Providers and network infrastructure developers. Yenamandra's presentation provides insight into the types of service attacks that 3G wireless networks are subjected to and how using an IPsec Virtual Private Network (VPN) can stop or minimize these attacks.
"As mobile devices have become more sophisticated in their ability to support multimedia applications, the need for end-to-end security using IPsec VPNs is of utmost importance," said Sid Yenamandra, Sr. Director of Applied Services Processors for Hifn. "Security breaches can cause significant loss of revenue each year for service providers therefore addressing these concerns is highly critical."
Yenamandra will discuss and validate why IPsec VPNs are the ideal security solution for 3G wireless networks. By implementing an IPsec VPN service providers are enabling end-to-end security of their wireless network, eliminating the typical IP based vulnerabilities such as service-hijacking, signal-level and DOS-attacks, and viruses.
Hifn's award-winning Applied Services Processors are used by the top networking, security and storage manufactures, securing 70 percent of the world's VPN traffic. The integrated high-speed compression engines provide bandwidth optimization, a key function for wireless-applications. The security engines in the Hifn processors accelerate a variety of IPsec, and SSL/TLS protocols including DES, Triple DES, AES (128, 192, and 256-bit, with counter mode support), MD5, SHA-1, true Random Number Generation, and Public Key.
