Document Technologies Boosts eDiscovery Capabilities With BlueArc
BlueArc® Corporation, the leader in scalable, high-performance unified network storage, recently announced that Document Technologies, Inc (DTI) has expanded its BlueArc infrastructure by upgrading to Titan 3200 storage solution, and adding 50 terabytes of high performance Fibre Channel storage Ð extending the companies' partnership in place since 2006. This upgrade allows DTI to double storage capacity and throughput to accelerate the electronic document discovery process, delivering significant performance enhancements to DTI and its clients.
As the nation's fastest-growing document outsourcing company, DTI offers law firms and corporate legal departments remarkable capacity for de-duplicating and producing electronic files and e-mail through a proprietary discovery process. Since 2006, when BlueArc Titan storage solutions were first deployed, DTI's ESI business has expanded 40% per year and continues to be a growth engine of the company.
The capabilities of Titan 3200 enable DTI to scale to 256 terabytes in a single storage pool and support multiple file systems for up to a total capacity of four petabytes under a single namespace. With the industry's leading performance in both throughput and IOPS, BlueArc enables DTI to work at full capacity, even through peak demands, generating in excess of 2 million files per day to facilitate rapid response to legal requests.
"BlueArc's unique modular architecture allows us to scale out performance and capacity easily and cost-effectively, thereby avoiding a complete forklift upgrade," said Kevin Jacobs, vice president of technology services for DTI. "The service, support, reliability and speed that we have experienced with BlueArc is unmatched, allowing us not only to deliver the best storage solution available to our hosting customers and our product environments, but it's ultimately helped us to grow our business."
Hardware-based Architecture Defends Data Integrity As software-based storage is inundated with requests for small files, performance slows and files may be dropped. File access and directory lookups often degrade as more files are added to a folder, and millions of files can cripple storage software. BlueArc's distinctive hardware-based architecture allows thousands of parallel operations, maintaining throughput even for the extreme volume of files handled in e-discovery. Coupled with hardware-based architecture, the BlueArc object-based file system easily handles millions of files in one directory.
Because e-discovery requires the retrieval and review of thousands or millions of electronic files in response to a request for evidence, litigation support providers depend on BlueArc Titan servers' world-record performance and capacity to help ensure that their storage infrastructure is both incredibly responsive and extremely reliable.
"eDiscovery and litigation support requirements are constantly expanding in scope and complexity," said Jon Affeld, senior director, Product Marketing at BlueArc. "DTI is a great example of how companies are tapping the unique performance and scalability attributes of Titan to ensure that their storage infrastructure keeps pace with the demands of the market."
About BlueArc
BlueArc is a leading provider of high-performance unified network storage systems to enterprise markets, as well as data intensive markets, such as electronic discovery, entertainment, federal government, higher education, Internet services, oil and gas and life sciences. Our products support both network attached storage, or NAS, and storage area network, or SAN, services on a converged network storage platform.
We enable companies to expand the ways they explore, discover, research, create, process and innovate in data-intensive environments. Our products replace complex and performance-limited products with high performance, scalable and easy to use systems capable of handling the most data intensive applications and environments. Further, we believe that our energy efficient design and our products' ability to consolidate legacy storage infrastructures, dramatically increases storage utilization rates and reduces our customers' total cost of ownership.
