Caringo Closes Fourth Quarter With 12 Customer Wins

Caringo Inc., a leading provider of content storage software that delivers a clustered storage infrastructure for storing both active and archive content, recently announced that it has successfully completed a record fourth quarter in sales of its CAStor software with 12 new customers worldwide. CAStor is quickly gaining momentum with users who recognize its obvious value proposition of providing affordable, scalable, simple and fast-to-implement storage of their mission-critical information.

Fueled in part by successful partnerships recently formed with resellers throughout Europe, including Proact, Betagraphics and Databasement, Caringo has rapidly expanded market penetration of its third-generation content addressed storage (CAS) architecture to companies seeking to maintain the integrity and availability of all types of content while minimizing the management overhead and rising costs associated with today's ever-growing storage environments.

Some of Caringo's newest customers are highlighted below with case studies on other significant US customers coming soon.

  • Evryx - developers of the SnapNow and ShaLink mobile visual search services in the US, UK, China and Japan. The company is dedicated to linking the physical and online worlds; bringing the interactivity of conventional web browsing and search to the physical world by using mobile phones and image recognition.
  • The Swedish National Collections of Music – a central government body for preserving music using CAStor as general archive storage
  • Repro AB Fyra Punkter – a Swedish graphics company specializing in images and printing that replaced its tape library environment with CAStor for improved security and performance
  • Statens Legemiddelverk – a Norwegian Medicines Agency has implemented CAStor for general archive storage of documents and images
  • Lönnberg Painot Oy – a Helsinki, Finland printing house using CAStor as secondary storage, which has eliminated the need for backup
  • Dedigate – the Belgium-based managed hosting subsidiary of Terremark installed CAStor to store fixed content for the largest Dutch online publisher

CAStor was the ideal solution for long-term archiving for the Swedish National Collections of Music. "We really needed a new archiving method," said Peter Söderbäck, Head of IT at the Swedish National Collections of Music. "The tapes that we have had for years were breaking down. We have manuscripts and autographs from people like Johan Helmich Roman that were disintegrating. Those types of historical pieces are an important part of our Swedish cultural heritage, and it would be disastrous if anything were lost. We wanted a solution that we could use and manage ourselves without having to hire any consultants."

"This past quarter has really seen a dramatic increase in usage of our CAStor software in a variety of industries, including government, healthcare, publishing and telecom," said Mark Goros, Caringo CEO. "We are pleased with the level of success we've reached in 2007 and look forward to concluding sales of CAStor with even more customers in even more markets throughout the world this coming year. As word of CAStor continues to extend throughout the industries served by our talented reseller partners, we are sure to find ourselves in an even better position to continue re-defining the market for content storage in a significant and dramatic way."

CAStor is a scalable, high-performance and extremely cost-effective content storage software that runs on standard, commodity server hardware for a fraction of the price of proprietary CAS systems. CAStor is self-healing, managing and configuring, uses no proprietary APIs, and requires no provisioning or downtime to add nodes and storage capacity in real time. With CAStor, an organization can store all of its active and archive content with guaranteed integrity in a single tier storage environment that scales from 1 terabyte to petabytes – all while requiring minimal administration and management.
