Avago Technologies Chooses Axxana's "Black Box" For 100% Disaster Recovery Protection
Axxana's Phoenix System® RP provides synchronous replication of Avago's critical data over asynchronous lines
Axxana recently announced that Avago Technologies, a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications, has purchased The Phoenix System RP. Avago will use Axxana's Phoenix System to protect data synchronously over its existing asynchronous infrastructure, as well as utilize Axxana's unprecedented WAN link failure data protection capabilities. Avago will benefit from Zero Data Loss using its existing primary and disaster recovery data centers, located in Singapore and Colorado, respectively, thousands of miles apart. Synchronous replication at such distances over IP lines was never possible before the invention of the Enterprise Data Recorder (EDR), AKA the Enterprise Black Box.
The Phoenix system RP is an unparalleled, cost-effective solution developed in conjunction with EMC RecoverPoint and qualified with EMC VNX and CLARiiON, delivering synchronous replication benefits over asynchronous infrastructure for an affordable price. The system received Storage Magazine-SearchStorage.com's "Product of the Year" Silver Award.
In the Avago application of The Phoenix System RP, EMC RecoverPoint sends data asynchronously to remote sites, while the Axxana EDR protects a synchronous copy of information inside a hardened black box storage device at the primary site itself. Following any disaster, The Phoenix System RP rapidly extracts the protected data and transmits it to a remote site, where the recovered information is reintegrated by EMC RecoverPoint, with the asynchronous remote copy, thus yielding, combined, an exact mirror image of the data in the primary data center.
The Axxana system provides significant cost savings by protecting Avago's data during high load application peaks, which enables Avago to stay with average throughput bandwidth levels for their communication lines. Therefore, Avago can avoid unnecessary costly upgrades to higher bandwidth over time.
Bob Rudy, Avago's CIO:
"Axxana provided us with a solution no one thought would be possible until today – Zero Data Loss over thousands of miles and with synchronous recovery. Add to this Axxana's protection against link failures and application high loads, without increasing bandwidth costs, and Axxana's Phoenix System RP was a no brainer choice for us. I am sure this will quickly become a standard in the industry."
Eli Efrat, Axxana's CEO:
"This customer win is another significant validation of Axxana's technology and its value proposition for customers using the EMC CLARiiON and VNX storage arrays. With the Avago installation, Axxana's Phoenix System RP will deliver a lower cost, highly-reliable data protection solution for Avago's critical data."
About Axxana
Axxana addresses the number one challenge in data protection: recovering data over any distance with zero data loss. Axxana developed a compelling and ingenious solution, The Phoenix System, which created a new domain in Disaster Recovery, namely Enterprise Data Recording (EDR). In conjunction with EMC and available through EMC Select, Axxana developed The Phoenix System RP with EMC RecoverPoint, enabling 100% disaster recovery with no data loss over any distance and on any type of communication lines, all with significant cost savings over traditional solutions. The system received the "Products of the Year" Silver Award from Storage Magazine-SearchStorage.com. Axxana is a Delaware Corporation and maintains offices in Newton, MA, Tel Aviv, Israel and Cambridge, UK.
