When using Avid NewsCutter editing systems along with Avid MediaDock Ultra320 local storage system, the ATTO FastStream SC 5300 storage appliance provides RAID protection to critical data while maintaining full system performance. Designed as an external device which integrates with JBOD or RAID storage, the FastStream SC product family adds data protection and storage networking with the high performance needed for uncompressed high-definition video production. Additionally, with a central point of management, the FastStream SC allows multiple editing suites to be managed from a single location, even remotely, making it simple to maintain and monitor storage.

ATTO Technology's history with Avid spans almost twenty years of combined success providing productivity-enhancing storage connectivity solutions for the digital content creation market. ATTO developed the FastStream RAID data protection solution to integrate seamlessly into Avid post production environments. Incorporating the latest in storage device and interface technology, the FastStream SC 5300 was specifically designed to handle the demanding real-time needs of digital content creation. Optimized for use with Avid editing applications and Avid MediaDock Ultra320 storage products, it was qualified on Avid's high standards of reliability and performance.

"When newsroom managers around the world think of nonlinear news editing, they think Avid NewsCutter, however, data protection in these environments is not always considered because of performance concerns," states Edward Tierney, director of marketing for ATTO Technology. "By utilizing the ATTO FastStream SC 5300, Avid NewsCutter customers can add piece of mind RAID data protection to their workflow while maintaining the performance needed to meet their editing deadlines."

Johnathon Howard, director of marketing for Avid's broadcast and media publishing segment, said, "Avid Newscutter customers working in standalone or field operations will greatly benefit from this synergy as we'll now be able to provide RAID protection that delivers a higher level of reliability and uninterrupted performance – helping them meet deadlines and get broadcasts to air quickly."
