Asigra Demonstrates True Cloud Backup And Recovery At Storage Networking World 2011

Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Hands-On Lab Showcases Cloud-Based Backup and Recovery of Microsoft Exchange

STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD - Asigra Inc., a leading Cloud Backup Recovery, and Restore (BURR) software provider since 1986, has joined with partners at the 2011 Storage Networking World (SNW) conference to demonstrate true cloud backup and recovery of Microsoft Exchange.

In the SNIA Hands-on-Lab (HOL), IT professionals will perform cloud backup by remotely accessing the Exchange servers residing in Toronto, Canada using their laptops from the SNIA HOL in Santa Clara, CA. The backed up data will be stored on storage hardware located in Mountain View, CA. Lab participants will then delete information to simulate a loss event and perform Message Level Recovery (MLR) of the lost Exchange data from their storage vault in Mountain View, CA back to the primary Exchange servers in Toronto, Canada to demonstrate true distributed cloud infrastructure across geographies. This HOL demo will show the performance, simplicity and flexibility of Asigra's business-class cloud backup and recovery solution.

WHO:Asigra Inc., alongside three service providers (SPs) from Asigra vast family of SPs - OutSource IT, KnowledgeCentrix, and Dakota Backup.

WHAT: Asigra will demonstrate the true power, simplicity, and performance of cloud backup, performing granular message level recovery of Microsoft Exchange performed by students at the SNIA Hands-On Lab during Storage Networking World Spring 2011.

WHEN: Monday, April 4, 2011 - Wednesday, April 6, 2011

WHERE: Storage Networking World 2011 - Santa Clara Convention Center, California. Information available at http://www.asigra.com/about-asigra/events/snw-spring-2011

A popular program offered at SNW, the SNIA Hands-On Lab provides attendees with one-on-one contact with participating vendors as end users are guided through a series of exercises organized around various technology themes. The Hands-On Lab gives users a chance to "test drive" the latest technologies in a controlled learning environment. The classes take place for two hours at regular intervals throughout the conference and are limited to 16-20 seats to give attendees a rich learning experience. Open to all end-user SNW attendees, the Asigra demonstration provides hand-on experience with cloud backup to raise awareness of its advantages for end-user organizations. The attendees of the SNIA HOLs include all expertise levels including many novice users of cloud backup.

Cloud backup is specialized backup technology for protecting data by transmitting a copy of the data over a proprietary or public network to a public or private backup vault. In a public cloud implementation, the vault is usually managed by a third-party service provider, who charges the end-user organization a fee based on capacity. Larger organizations that build a private backup cloud typically deploy a proprietary vault which serves as the central backup repository for distributed enterprise backup. In conjunction with industry-leading storage hardware and services delivered through partners, Asigra delivers powerful cloud backup capabilities that allow organizations to economize and modernize their backup processes for greater efficiency, control and data availability.

"More and more organizations are choosing Asigra for their backup and recovery needs because our technology enables them to intelligently leverage the advantages of the cloud," said Ashar Baig, senior director of product marketing, Asigra. "This provides organizations with the control, efficiency and cost-effectiveness they need to securely protect information assets."
