Archive Appliance: Plasmon Accelerates Growth Of Udo Archive Appliance Sales And Market Adoption Of UDO2

Plasmon, the trusted source in archiving systems, recently announced a 50 percent year-on-year growth in the company's UDO Archive Appliance sales. Plasmon has also seen solid increases in the overall market adoption of its UDO2 technology with the certification and shipment of UDO2 by GE Healthcare, AGFA, IBM and Konica Minolta.

"Plasmon is seeing strong interest in our UDO Archive Appliance as a result of corporate governance and regulatory compliance standards, e-discovery and increasing demand for secure, searchable, long-term archives," said Rod Powell, CEO, Plasmon. "This positive growth for Plasmon's UDO2 archival storage solutions is evidence that the company is responding to market demand and helping businesses meet unique business requirements."

An example of the end user adoption of Plasmon's UDO Archive Appliance is Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's recent upgrade to Plasmon's UDO2 solutions to double the amount of data the hospital can store.

"Plasmon's UDO Archive Appliance is meant to be the ultimate archive in case of a major catastrophe," said Peter Kijewskp, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. "I chose the Plasmon UDO solution because its capacity, scalability, reliability and price were all in sync with my road map for the Center's storage practice."

In addition to end user interest, Plasmon is seeing growing support for the UDO Archive Appliance from leading independent software vendor partners including Arkivio, CommVault, Hyland Software, SAP, Symantec and Vignette, among others. Plasmon has also increased the number of solution providers participating in its Archive Partner Program to more than 600 partners worldwide. These partners are helping drive momentum for Plasmon's archiving solutions.

A European application partner that is working closely with Plasmon is Toshiba Medical Systems Europe who has certified the UDO Archive Appliance as part of their StoreDirect storage solutions, which stores and manages image data for medical imaging departments.

"The Archive Appliance concept from Plasmon nicely responds to the data storage requirements in medical imaging environments", said Dr. Willem Overlaet, senior manager Connectivity Solutions at Toshiba Medical Systems Europe, "It's an ideal complement to the StoreDirect solutions from Toshiba, providing the combination of fast online data access, and a permanent archive on a professional WORM medium. We have also just recently validated the new UDO Archive Appliance Express, which provides a very cost effective and secure archive solution for diagnostic imaging centers with limited capacity needs for online storage."

To maintain this progress, Plasmon has introduced an evaluation program for the UDO Archive Appliance. This program is offered to Plasmon's reseller partners and enables them to receive trial units of the UDO Archive Appliance to use onsite for customer evaluations. As a result of this program, reseller partners can give their customers the opportunity to test Plasmon's solutions prior to making a purchase decision.
