InMage Systems Announces New Version Of Flagship DR-Scout Disaster Recovery Software

Source: InMage

InMage Systems recently announced DR-Scout 4.2, the newest release of its flagship disaster recovery and business continuity software. DR-Scout 4.2 is an enhanced version of their software and further helps companies reduce cost and complexity in business continuity and disaster recovery. In addition, DR-Scout improves recovery time and recovery point objectives across heterogeneous storage environments.

DR-Scout's functionality goes beyond traditional replication and mirroring products, offering customers real-time, block-level data protection with granular file rollback. In addition, DR-Scout enables application-consistent recovery and push-button failover. The software architecture offloads physical and virtual server protection to minimize production server cycles. This unique combination provides a superior combination of RTO, RPO and ROI. DR-Scout can scale from lower cost application-specific recovery scenarios, such as Microsoft Exchange or SQL Server, up to and including departmental or enterprise-wide recovery of a virtualized data center.

DR-Scout 4.2 enhancements include:

  • Support for new platforms, including: Windows 2008, Windows on Itanium, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, VMware ESX, HP-UX 11iv3 and AIX 6.1
  • Enhanced reporting – audits and operational reports to better meet compliance needs; support for on-demand report generation and e-mailed reports
  • Role-based access control – support for monitoring-only accounts
  • Enhanced data migration – support for local direct synchronization of data, significantly faster resynchronization times across WAN and LAN
  • Capacity-based licensing – product can be licensed both by host and/or protected capacity, allowing better price tiering to make solution affordable to lower end of midmarket
  • Enhanced application support – MySQL on Linux, Oracle on Linux and Windows

"DR-Scout is a powerful and proven disaster recovery solution for physical and virtual environments," said Rajeev Atluri, CTO and SVP of Engineering. "The new release extends support for all the major server virtualization platforms, including VMware, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V. DR-Scout for Server Virtualization allows for a virtualized source, target or both, enabling customers to protect physical servers as well as use a virtualized server as the replication target. The result is a very high level of application protection and availability at a much lower total cost of ownership. Our customers have found that DR-Scout provides powerful data protection within their virtualized environments."

Additional features include Profiler and Analyzer, which assist disaster recovery and storage managers in capacity planning for storage and the wide area network (WAN) circuits that connect the primary production and secondary recovery facilities. Bandwidth utilization can be adjusted based on the time of day, and DR-Scout also accommodates WAN outages by queuing data changes until the connection is re-established. DR-Scout is platform-independent and offers heterogeneous storage support for DAS, SAN, NAS and iSCSI.

DR-Scout version 4.2 is immediately available. For more information, please call (800) 646-3417 or e-mail info@inmage.com.
